GOT A QUESTION ABOUT A SONG, AN ARTIST, WHY WE DO THIS OR THAT ON 100.5 LOUIE FM? WE’LL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS- JUST “ASK LOUIE” here: Louie@LouieOnline.com
Q: I keep hearing on the radio that I can now listen to the 80's on HD but I can't find anything that says 80's in your options. Can you help me out? Thanks, Demetria Griffin
Q: We have trivia going @ the office. I say Lionel Richie is the lead singer for "Brick House" and another associate says no. Can you confirm that? Thanks! Gerald Lee, Trane Co.
A: Gerald, I'm afraid you lose this bet. While Lionel Richie sang lead on most of The Commodores big hits, drummer Walter "Clyde" Orange was the lead vocalist on "Brick House".
Q: Hi. I have heard this song on your station before and I love it but I can never figure out the nae or who sings it. Maybe you could help. It's the song about a boy playing a fiddle in competition with the devil. it's an amazing song. hope you can help me. -Mina Rabiee, Fern Creek
A: We get this one a lot. It's called "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band. Q: Who sings the song, "what if God was one of us, just a slob like one of us"? - Diane W., Brooks KY
A: The song you're referring to is titled, "One Of Us" and it's by Joan Osborne, an Anchorage native! Q: What is that unusual but catchy song in the latest iPod Nano TV commercials (I think it's called '123')? - Jennifer Stevens, New Albany
A: Thanks, Jennifer- a TON of you have asked about that - it's called "1-2-3-4" by Canadian artist Feist. You can CHECK OUT THE VIDEO HERE.Q: How do I enter my dog's picture (for the "All Dogs Rock" feature at www.LouieOnline.com)? - Dee Spillman
A: Thanks, Dee- it's easy to do...just attach the picture of your pup and your names and Email them to Jackson@LouieOnline.com and your dog will be a star within hours! Q: I bought an HD radio several months ago and can't wait to hear 100.5 Louie FM in digital quality. Do you know when 100.5 Louie FM will begin broadcasting a digital signal? -Rick Schneider, Louisville, KY
A: Louie FM's now broadcasting in High Definition and now you can also check out 100.5 FM HD-2 channel called "PARTY TOWN"! Not only will you be able to pick 100.5 Louie FM in High Definition but we'll also have several additional side channels with other music choices. We'll also have our HD-2 station available at LouieOnline.com so you can listen, even if you haven't bought an H.D. radio yet. Q: I love your last 10 songs played thing but what if I'm trying to look up a tune you played 3-4 days ago? - Susan McKaye
A: Good question, Susan. Louie FM has recently added a new service to our website called "What Was That Song?". It's right on our main page and all you have to do is click on "What Was That Song?" to find something you heard earlier today, yesterday...up to a week back. They're all listed by title and artist and include available links to that artist's website. (click here to tour WHAT WAS THAT SONG) Q: I've been searching for the version of "Hotel California" by the Eagles that you play. It sounds as if it is a live acoustical version. Can you tell me were I might find it for download? - Rich Moore
A: You have good ears, Rich. Most of the time, Louie FM plays the original “Hotel California” but occasionally we get calls for the live version from the Eagles’ 1994 reunion CD, “Hell Freezes Over”. You can find it easily and I recommend you get the CD and the DVD of the concert- the Eagles at their vintage best. Q: Who sings (it’s a girl singer) "what I am is what I am is what you are or what?" I love that song. -Jessica Blum, BAE Systems Land & Armaments
A: “What I Am” is by Edie Brickel and The New Bohemians and was released in 1987 from their album, “Shooting Rubberbands”. If you’ve never heard of Edie Brickel, she’s also known as Mrs. Paul Simon, they’ve been married 12 years and these days she and Paul are living in New York and raising their three kids, who are now 10, 8 and 5 years old.
Q: I've never been able to figure out what the line in the song "Blinded By The Light". Something like this: Blinded by the light ??Wrapped??? ?? night??? She got down etc -Ann Jones
A: Hi, Ann- thanks for your question- we get this one a lot. The lyrics to "Blinded By The Light", originally written and recorded by Bruce Springsteen, are:
"Blinded By The Light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night". Hope that helps...thanks a lot for listening. Q: "I love the tune 'BLACK HORSE & THE CHERRY TREE' (by KT Tunstall) but can't get a line on the story being told. Can you clear this up for me so I can fully enjoy the song? - Teresa Simpson
A: Thanks for writing, Teresa! From the lips of KT herself: "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree is inspired by old blues, Nashville psycho hillbillies & hazy memories. It tells the story of finding yourself lost on your path, and a choice has to be made. It's about gambling, fate, listening to your heart, and having the strength to fight the darkness that's always willing to carry you off.”(An interesting side note about KT: she was adopted as a child then in her 20’s she met her birth mother who told her that her birth father was a folk musician. Her birth mother is of Chinese descent and her birth father, who she never met is of Irish decent.)
